Hot on the heels of a report that claimed that Apple Music will be undergoing some big changes later this year, a new report claims that one more big tweak is in the works.
The Connect portion of Apple Music will be “demoted” in iOS 10, according to a report from 9to5Mac. In the next major iOS release, it’s said that Connect will no longer be given its own tab in the Apple Music UI, and will instead become “integrated” into the For You tab. Connect will still be available on artist pages.
The bad news for Connect doesn’t end there, either. In addition to the demotion, it’s said that Connect is not likely to get any new features in iOS 10.
Connect launched with Apple Music as a way for artists to connect with fans and share photos, video, and audio. But while some artists are using Connect, Connect doesn’t seem to have gained a great deal of traction with musicians or users. Apple hasn’t really had much to say about Connect since its launch, either. Considering all of that, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Connect get a demotion as part of a major Apple Music overhaul.
If you’re an Apple Music user that wishes Connect would be demoted right now, you can make it disappear from your Apple Music app if you’d like. As noted by MacRumors, you can go into Settings > General > Restrictions and disable “Apple Music Connect.” Doing so will turn the Connect tab into a Playlists tab.
