Nexus device owners can try Android N right now thanks to the Developer Preview, but folks that don’t have a Nexus will have to wait for their manufacturer to push an update their way before they get Android N. Those folks can get a small taste of Android N right now, though, thanks to Google Camera.
A new update to the Google Camera app — version 3.2, to be specific — is now rolling out that’s the same version as the one included with Android N Developer Preview 2. The update brings some UI tweaks, like refreshed buttons for the shutter and for the front/rear camera switcher, and it also includes the ability to take photos while shooting video. Also of note is that the slow motion mode is a separate item in the pullout menu rather than being a button in video mode.
This update is now rolling out, but as is usually the case with these app updates, it’s going out in stages. That means that it might take some time for the new Google Camera to make its way to your Android phone.
Google’s Camera app may not be the most powerful one available on Android, but it’s got a fairly clean UI that works for folks that just want to quickly snap a photo or record some video.
