Lots of companies have introduced new flagship Android phones lately, and the latest to do so is Meizu.
The Meizu Pro 6 is a new Android smartphone that’s powered by a deca-core processor. The MediaTek Helio X25 has 10 ARM Cortex cores, including four 1.4GHz ARM Cortex A53, four 2.0GHz ARM Cortex A53, and two 2.5GHz ARM Cortex A72. The deca-core processor isn’t the only Pro 6 feature with 10 of something, though, as its 21.16-megapixel rear camera boasts a 10-LED flash as well as laser autofocus and phase detection autofocus that Meizu says help the Pro 6 to focus on a subject in 0.07 seconds.
Meizu’s Pro 6 also packs a 5-megapixel selfie camera with Face AE Light Boost and FotoNation 2.0 Smart Beauty features, 4GB of RAM, 32/64GB of storage, USB Type-C, and a 2560mAh battery that can be fast-charged using mCharge 3.0 tech. All of those features are packed into a metal body that’s sure to draw comparisons to Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6s, though the antenna lines on the back of the Pro 6 are closer to the top and bottom of the unit than those on the iPhone 6/6s.
The design of the Pro 6 isn’t the only feature that’s likely to draw comparisons to Apple’s iPhone 6s, as the Pro 6’s 5.2-inch 1920x1080 Super AMOLED display also includes a feature called 3D Press. With 3D Press, the Pro 6 can detect differences in how forcefully to press on the screen to enable previews and hotkey functions. Below that display is a home button with an mTouch fingerprint reader.
The Meizu Pro 6 will be available in black, silver, and gold color options. Pricing will be set at ¥2499 ($386 USD) for the 32GB model, while the more capacious 64GB version will cost ¥2799 ($432 USD).
With specs like a deca-core processor and 4GB of RAM, the Meizu Pro 6 ought to be able to handle just about anything that you throw at it. And while it may look like the iPhone, the design of the Pro 6 isn’t bad, offering a clean look and metal body. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how widely available the Pro 6 will be, but it’s probably safe to say that the Meizu Pro 6 will skip the US like its predecessors have.
