Although Samsung rolled out updates to Android 6.0 Marshmallow for both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge over a month ago, device owners claimed they have not yet received an update. Today however, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge users under Verizon should expect to start receiving the update on their smartphones.
Considering the Galaxy S6 series was released just a year ago, this Android 6.0 update makes the biggest upgrade to hit the device. This update will bring them new improvements such as a longer battery life thanks to Doze and easy access to information through Google Now on Tap. The update also improves TouchWiz, starting by addressing the RAM management issue that Galaxy S6 users have complained about for a year. Lastly, the new OS update offers a better edge display functionality along with customization options.
As with big Android upgrades, it will start arriving in batches so you might not see an update notification right away. You can opt to wait for a notification in the coming days or you can manually check if the new release is available for your device by going to Settings > About Device > Software Update. This way, you can start downloading the update so you can enjoy the new improvements that come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
