Good news to those who pre-ordered the LG G5: apparently T-Mobile has shipped the smartphone ahead of the scheduled global release date. The flagship smartphone was supposed to be available in the US on April 1, but some of them have already made it to customers’ hands thanks to T-Mobile.
This isn’t the first time T-Mobile has done something like this. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were supposed to be released on March 11. But the competitive carrier beat all other carriers by being the first to ship the Samsung smartphones ahead of the official release date. Some lucky customers even got their pre-ordered phones as early as Feb. 29. Other carriers quickly followed suit. AT&T and Sprint also began shipping the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge early, followed by Verizon and Best Buy, which allowed in-store pickups of orders just days before the official release date.
It seems T-Mobile has started a trend of sorts. With the carrier shipping the LG smartphones early it’s very likely for other carriers to follow suit as they did with the Samsung phones.
