Right on schedule, Casio’s ruggedized Android Wear smartwatch has hit virtual store shelves.
The Casio WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch is now available from the Google Store, Amazon, REI and Casio’s own online shop. Pricing is set at $500 across all stores, but some of them are offering different color selections. The Google Store has Olive and Orange, Amazon has Red, and both REI and Casio are selling the Black and Orange models.
The Casio WSD-F10 features a round 1.32-inch 320x300 display and a ruggedized body that can be submerged in up to 50 meters (164 feet) of water. It also meets military standard MIL-STD-810 to withstand shock, vibration, sand, dust, extreme temperatures, and more. Inside of the WSD-F10 is 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage.
On the software side of things, Casio has equipped the WSD-F10 with features a Tool button that’ll show info like altitude readings and a compass, a MyRadar app for tracking the weather, and a Moment Setter that’ll remind you of important info like sunsets and the best fishing time. Finally, there’s a Timepiece Mode that’ll let you extend the WSD-F10’s battery life to more than 1 month by disabling smartphone communications and turning the display monochrome.
While the Casio WSD-F10 is one of the pricier Android Wear smartwatches on the market, it’s not necessarily meant to appeal to the everyday consumer. Instead, it’s a rugged smartwatch that people like hikers, fishers, and so on can take with them on their adventures and rest easy knowing that their smartwatch will withstand the elements just as well as they do. If that sounds a smartwatch that you want on your wrist, you can buy the Casio WSD-F10 right now.
