UPDATE: Verizon says that the BlackBerry Priv will be available in its stores starting March 11.
Four months after Verizon said that the BlackBerry Priv would hit its shelves “soon,” the Android-powered slider has launched.
The BlackBerry Priv is now available on Verizon’s website at a price of $0 down and 24 payments of $30 per month. That works out to a full retail price of $720.
In exchange for your hard-earned dollar bills, you’ll be getting a BlackBerry Priv that’s largely similar to the unlocked model that’s been available since late 2015. The Verizon-flavored Priv has the same 5.43-inch 2560x1440 AMOLED display, the same 18-megapixel camera, the same hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, and the same 32GB of built-in storage with microSD slot for adding more storage. The big difference is that the Verizon model includes the network bits necessary for use on Verizon’s CDMA and LTE networks.
The BlackBerry Priv certainly took its sweet time getting to Verizon, but hey, at least it’s finally arrived. That’s good news for Verizon customers because it means that they can now give BlackBerry’s Android slider a try, and it’s good news for BlackBerry because its current hero phone is finally available on the biggest wireless carrier in the US.
Now that the the BlackBerry Priv is available on Verizon, are any of you Big Red subscribers going to buy one?
