One day after Amazon’s Echo learned how to play music from Spotify, it’s gained another trick.
Uber support is now integrated with Amazon Echo, enabling you to order an Uber ride by saying “Alexa, order me an Uber” or a similar statement. You can also ask how far away your Uber is. To enable the feature, you must add your location to the Settings section of the Alexa app, enable Uber in the Skills section of the app, and link your Uber account.
Just like with the Echo’s Spotify feature, you can always use your phone to order an Uber, but the ability to order one with Echo means that you can get an Uber when your phone isn’t nearby or when you’re doing other things. Simply say “Alexa, ask Uber to get me a car,” and minutes later, an Uber will show up at your door to take you to your destination.
