Remember that Samsung phone leasing program that was rumored last year? It’s back in the news today, with a report claiming that it could be launching soon.
South Korean publication Electronic Times claims that Samsung could launch a new Galaxy phone upgrade program alongside the Galaxy S7. The program is expected to work similarly to Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program, which lets you spread the full cost of an iPhone over 24 months and upgrade to a new model every year after trading in their old unit.
Past rumors have suggested that Samsung could announce the Galaxy S7 at the end of February and launch it in early March. Launching an upgrade program alongside the GS7 could be a smart move for Samsung. Doing so would make it easy for consumers to say in the Galaxy ecosystem and it would make it easier for customers to switch carriers, enabling them to jump from one network to another without having to trade in their old phone, buy a new one, transfer their data, and so on.
If Samsung does launch a Galaxy upgrade program, will you enroll in it?
