Facebook Reactions were first announced back in October as a way to let Facebook users react to a post in a way other than the Like. At the time, though, Reactions were only available in Ireland and Spain. That’ll soon be changing.
Facebook has revealed that Reactions will be launching around the world “in the next few weeks.” There will be six reactions available: Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, and Angry. There were seven Reactions available when the feature first launched last year, but Facebook decided to cut the Yay reaction because “it was not universally understood.”
When they go live, you’ll be able to use Reactions by pressing and holding on a post’s Like button. Each post will have a tally of each reaction that’s been selected so far.
Likes have been the sole way to offer a quick response to Facebook for years now, so it’s kind of crazy to see Facebook expanding it. Folks have been asking for more ways to respond to posts for a while, though. For example, some people feel strange “Liking” a post about a death or someone’s illness. Reactions will address this situation with a wider range of responses.
