Wearables have become a hot mobile trend over the past year or so, and Samsung is one of the most prolific makers of these devices. And if a new leak is to be believed, that won’t be changing.
Several images have surfaced that claim to show a Samsung wearable with the model number SM-R150. The device looks a bit like a sporty Gear S2, offering a circular display, chrome bezel, and what looks to be a rubberized band. The tweet that includes the images refers to the device as the Gear Fit 2, suggesting that it could be a following to Samsung’s rectangular activity tracker.
Interestingly, one of the images shows a person wearing a round object with Samsung branding on their chest, on the outside of their shirt. The device appears to be located near their heart, perhaps slightly above it.
Details on this new device are light, but judging by the promotional-looking images that’ve been leaked, it does indeed look like a new fitness-focused wearable from Samsung. The Gear S2 has been praised for its design, so perhaps Samsung has decided to just reuse that look for a new wearable device that’s focused on fitness. While the Gear S2 does offer some fitness features, this new SM-R150 may include even more in-depth info. As for the circular object on the wearer’s chest, part of the SM-R150’s fitness focus could include an accessory to better track your heart rate.
It’s unclear when Samsung might announce this SM-R150, but with MWC 2016 a little more than one month away, perhaps we’ll see it debut there.
