Apparently Google is full of Android app updates after coming back from the holidays. First it was Maps that got Driving Mode, then the Google app got resized icons and landscape mode, and now Google+ is getting an update of its own.
An update to Google+ is now rolling out that bumps the Android app to version 7.0.0. Googler Luke Wroblewski dropped some details on what’s new in the update, including a feature that’ll automatically hide the bottom tab bar when you’re scrolling. Additionally, the app’s home stream will remember your position when you return from another screen (like notifications), and search will display suggestions as you type. Rounding out the list of new features is one that’ll prompt you to add a Collection or Community to your profile if you don’t have any.
Also included in Google+ v7.0.0 are a bevy of bug fixes. Specifically, Wroblewski says that the update includes 69 bug fixes and addresses 14 accessibility issues.
Google+ may not have become the huge social network that Google once envisioned it would be, but it’s got a dedicated user base, and it’s good to see Google continue improve Google+ and its app. This latest update isn’t rife with new features, but it does offer some usability improvements that ought to better the experience of using Google+ on your Android phone.
