Kyocera seems to be all about offering rugged Android phones nowadays, and today it revealed two new tough smartphones for AT&T and Cricket.
First up is the Kyocera DuraForce XD, an Android phablet for AT&T. The device has a 5.7-inch 1280x720 display, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a 3700mAh battery. The DuraForce XD also includes support for AT&T’s Enhanced Push-To-Talk functionality.
Of course, perhaps the biggest feature of the DuraForce XD is its rugged body. The device meets Military Standard 810G for resistance to dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, blowing rain, water immersion, and more. It’s also got an impact-resistant touchscreen to help protect its large display.
The Kyocera DuraForce XD will launch on January 8 for $49.99 with a two-year contract or 30 payments of $14.97 per month with AT&T Next 24. AT&T will also launch the DuraXE on January 8. This rugged flip phone will be available for $49.99 with a two-year commitment or 20 payments of $13.50 apiece.
Meanwhile, Cricket Wireless customers will soon get a tough Kyocera phone of their own. The Kyocera Hydro View will launch on January 8 for $79.99 with a 5-inch 960x540 display, quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor, 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD card, and a 2160mAh battery. The Hydro View can survive being dunked into three feet of water for up to 30 minutes and also includes Wet Touchscreen tech that’ll enable you to use the display with wet fingers.
