Smartphone seem to constantly be getting better and better, and today we’ve got phones with 2560x1440 displays and 4GB of RAM. The one spec that doesn’t seem to be improving quite as quickly is battery capacity, so smartphone maker Oukitel decided to just cram a humongous battery in its new phone.
The Oukitel K10000 is a new Android smartphone that packs a 10000mAh battery. That’s more than three times as large as the 3000mAh batteries found in the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, LG G4, and LG V10. Oukitel claims that that 10000mAh battery can last 10-15 days with “normal use. The good news is that Oukitel has also outfitted the K10000 with fast charging technology that the company says can charge the 10000mAh juice pack within three and a half hours.
Outside of its gigantic battery, the Oukitel K10000 is a fairly mid-range smartphone. It’s got a 5.5-inch 1280x720 display, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage that you can supplement using the K10000’s microSD slot, and 800/1800/2100/2600MHz LTE support. The K10000’s software is Android 5.1 beneath a customized user interface that eschews Android’s app drawer and features “precise and vivid icons” as well as features like gesture unlock and double tap to wake. All of these features are packed into a body that measures 9mm thick.
The Oukitel K10000 is now available for pre-order for $239.99, and it’ll start shipping on January 21. That price seems appropriate given the Oukitel K10000’s feature set, and while it remains to be seen if the K10000 can actually last 10-15 days on a single charge, I’d bet that its 10000mAh battery could at least live longer than just about every other smartphone on the market.
