After adding support for 3D Touch to Chrome for iOS, Google today updated another one of its major iOS apps with support for the iPhone 6s’s new 3D Touch feature.
The Google app now supports 3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. With 3D Touch, you can hard press on the Google app’s icon to get shortcuts for Quick Search, Voice Search, and Image Search. Each shortcut works just as you’d expect, launching the Google app and pushing you right into the feature that you’re trying to jump to.
Today’s Google app update also adds multitasking support on the iPad, which means that you can run the Google app side-by-side with another app. Finally, the Google app can show you the holiday hours of businesses if that info is available.
This is a solid app update from Google. 3D Touch is one of the biggest new features of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and while the phone have been available for around two and a half months now, Google is still beating many other major companies to adding 3D Touch support to their apps. Meanwhile, multitasking support is big for iPad users because they can now do things like browse their Google Now feed while also browsing the web with Safari or using another app.
