After rolling out — and then removing — multiple account support in its Android app, Instagram is now pushing another notable new feature that’ll hopefully stick around.
Instagram has updated its Android app to include a feature similar to the 3D Touch functionality found in its iOS app. With 3D Touch, Instagram users on iOS can press down on an image thumbnail to view a larger image and also like, comment, or send a message. Since not all Android phones have a screen that can sense the amount of pressure being applied to it, Instagram has instead enabled this feature on Android with a long press.
After updating to Instagram version 7.13.0, you can long press on an image thumbnail to have a larger version pop up. You can then slide your finger to the Like, View Profile, and Share buttons to take that action, all without lifting your finger.
This new long press feature will let you view larger images on a user’s profile page or on the search page without having to constantly jump back and forth between the list of images and a specific photo’s page. It’s a pretty nifty time-saving feature, and it’s cool to see Instagram bring the 3D Touch feature from its iOS app to its Android app in a way that every Android user can take advantage of it.
To get Instagram version 7.13.0, you can either update through Google Play or sideload using APK Mirror.
