ZTE has officially introduced the Blade S7, a new Android smartphone that ZTE describes as “the perfect smartphone for selfie lovers.”
The ZTE Blade S7 packs a 13-megapixel camera on its face along with a flash, phase detection autofocus, a panorama mode, and a whopping 14 different beautification options. There’s also a 13-megapixel shooter around on the back of the Blade S7 with laser autofocus, a professional shooting mode, and some auto shooting modes for when you feel like letting the phone handle things.
Another Blade S7 feature being highlighted by ZTE is Magic Gestures, a feature that’ll let you launch different apps by drawing letters on the Blade S7’s locked screen. There are also gestures for muting the phone, launching the camera, playing music, and answering calls. And just in case you need another way to quickly launch apps, you can use the One Press Launch feature in combination with the Blade S7’s fingerprint reader. With One Press launch, you can use different fingerprints to unlock your phone and launch different apps.
Rounding out the ZTE Blade S7’s feature set is a 5-inch 1920x1080 display with 2.5D curved glass, octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and Android 5.1.1 running beneath ZTE’s custom MiFavor 3.2 user interface. All of those features are crammed into a body that has an aluminum alloy frame and measures 7.2mm thick.
ZTE will launch the Blade S7 first in Thailand and then in other Asia-Pacific markets. There’s no word on how much it’ll cost, but given its mid-range feature set, it likely won’t be a wallet-buster. It’s also worth noting that while ZTE is highlighting the Blade S7’s front-facing camera and selfie capabilities, the phone’s 5-inch 1920x1080 display could make it a good option for folks that aren’t into the phablet trend that’s been sweeping the mobile world lately.
