Over the weekend, an image of a device called the HTC One X9 leaked out, along with an alleged spec list that was pretty high-end. Reports suggested that the X9 might pack a Snapdragon 820, 5-inch 2560x1440 display, 4GB of RAM, and more. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like those rumors will pan out.
Well-known HTC leaker LlabTooFer has weighed in on these HTC One X9 rumors, saying that most of the rumored specs are incorrect. The only detail that is reportedly correct is that the One X9 will have a 4-megapixel UltraPixel front camera. LlabTooFer says that the One X9 (aka HTC E56) will be lower-end than the HTC One A9, which is a mid-range handset with a 5-inch 1920x1080 display and 13-megapixel camera. The One X9 is expected to ship in Q1 2016, around 2 or 3 months before the HTC One M10.
Lots of folks have been hoping for another flagship-level Android phone from HTC in 2015 after the One M9 launched to a lukewarm response. Unfortunately, the One A9 was’t that, and it doesn’t look like the One X9 will be, either. At this point, the One M10 or whatever it’s called probably isn’t too far out. Both the One M8 and One M9 debuted in March 2014 and 2015, respectively, so the One M10 could around March next year.
