Google recently issued an update for Google Drive that, among other things, adds notifications when someone shares a file or folder with you. Turns out that that’s not the only app that Google is updating.
Google Maps on iOS is getting an update to version 4.12, and the big new feature is spoken traffic alerts when in Navigation mode. These alerts will give you a summary of the traffic conditions on your route before you start moving, and while you’re driving, Google will alert you about any congestion or incidents that you may encounter on your way to your destination.
This new update also makes it easier to add new businesses from the sidebar with an “Add a missing business” button. Google also says that it’s included some unspecified “bug fixes.”
The voice alerts in this update are big because they’ll help keep you informed about your trip ahead without distracting you much or making you interact with your device. So if you use Google Maps on your iPhone, head into the App Store and grab this update now.
