UPDATE: MetroPCS has elaborated on its Fierce XL pricing, saying that it'll offer a $70 instant rebate that'll knock the phone's price down to $69.
Alcatel OneTouch has a new Android phablet, and it’s coming to both MetroPCS and T-Mobile.
The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on a 5.5-inch 1280x720 display. Powering the Fierce XL is a 1.1GHz quad-core Snapdragon 210 processor, a 2500mAh battery, and 2GB of RAM, and there’s also 16GB of storage that can be expanded upon with a microSD slot. The Fierce XL also offers T-Mobile-centric goodies like band 12 LTE, Wi-Fi Calling, and Voice over LTE.
Alcatel OneTouch is also talking up the Fierce XL’s camera features. The Fierce XL offers 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, and Alcatel OneTouch has included Polaroid photo editing software that can apply filters and borders, add tags to your photos, and place images in layouts.
MetroPCS will be the first to offer the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL when it launches the device on November 2. Pricing will be set at $139. T-Mobile will launch the Fierce XL “later this winter.”
While the Fierce XL’s spec list isn’t the most high-end we’ve ever seen, what it does offer a big ol’ screen for an affordable price. And because the Fierce XL’s specs aren’t super demanding, its 2500mAh battery ought to help it last quite a while.
