It should come as no surprise that the LG G4 will be getting an update to Android 6.0. After all, it’s LG’s current flagship, and it just came out this year. But would you be surprised if I told you that it’s getting a Marshmallow update starting next week?
Yep, LG says that it’ll begin pushing Android 6.0 to the G4 next week. The catch? Only users in Poland will be getting the update initially. LG G4 owners in Europe, Asia, and the Americas will get their updates sometime later on.
As for what G4 owners can expect from this update, LG touts Android 6.0 features like simplified permissions with apps that’ll ask for a permission at the time that they need it, silent mode for sound and vibrate as well as Do Not Disturb, and a Doze feature that’ll stop the background activity of select apps when your phone isn’t in use to conserve battery life.
Those are some of the main features of Android 6.0 that most everyone updating to Marshmallow should get. We’ll have to wait until LG actually begins rolling Android 6.0 out to users before we know what tweaks, if any, LG has made to its custom UI with Marshmallow. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen when LG G4-ers outside of Poland will get Android 6.0, but one thing that seems likely is that US folks with carrier-branded G4 models still have a bit of a wait ahead of them.
