Today was a big day for Google because it began pushing its first Android 6.0 updates over the air. That’s not all that Google’s done today, though, because the company has found time to push a major app update to iOS users, too.
The YouTube app for iOS is now getting a big update that brings a UI refresh. The update brings a bit of Android’s material design to iOS, and in the process it makes the YouTube app for iOS look a lot like the Android version of the app. With this refresh, you can swipe between tabs that contain your recommended videos, subscriptions, and your account info.
Also included in today’s update are some in-app video editing tools so that you can make tweaks to a video and then upload it in the same app.
This is a solid update for the YouTube app on iOS, adding in a fresh design and some more color in order to bring the app more in line with its Android counterpart. So if you’re an iOS user but are a fan of the material design that Google’s been using on Android lately, head to the App Store to grab this new YouTube update and add a bit more material design to your Apple device.
