HTC today posted its Q3 2015 results, reporting a quarterly revenue of NT$21.40 billion ($658 million USD) as well as an operating loss of NT$4.94 billion ($151.9 million USD). HTC’s net loss after tax was NT $4.48 billion ($137.7 million USD).

To compare, HTC posted a revenue of NT$33.0 billion ($1.01 billion USD) and a net loss after tax of NT $8.0 billion ($246 million USD) in Q2 2015. HTC actually fared quite a bit better in the year-ago quarter, pulling in revenue of NT$41.86 billion ($1.28 billion USD) and a net profit after tax of $0.64 billion ($19.68 million USD) in Q3 2014.

So yeah, while HTC had a better Q3 than it did Q2 this year, the numbers it put up in Q3 2015 are nowhere near the ones that it reported in Q3 2014. The good news for HTC is that it does have a big new product around the corner in the One A9, which is rumored to offer a metal chassis and a spec list that includes a 5-inch 1920x1080 AMOLED display, fingerprint reader, and 13-megapixel rear camera. If HTC can get widespread distribution and a solid price point for the One A9, the device could help HTC produce some better numbers in the coming quarters. 

It’s expected that HTC will reveal the One A9 at its upcoming October 20 event.
