Just as expected, Google has officially released Android 6.0 Marshmallow for a handful of Nexus devices.
Google says that it’s now pushing Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. These updates will likely roll out on a staggered basis, so don’t get too frustrated if Marshmallow doesn’t appear on your device right away.
The Android 6.0 factory images are also available for the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, and Nexus Player. The build number for all of the images are MRA58K.
There are a couple of details worth noting about these factory images. First up, for devices that are available in both Wi-Fi-only and cellular flavors, there are updates available for both. That means that the cellular versions of the Nexus 9 and Nexus 7 (2013) have images available along with the Wi-Fi-only models. Additionally, there don’t appear to be separate Marshmallow images for the T-Mobile and Project Fi Nexus 6 models like there were with Lollipop.
One other thing that’s worth pointing out is that installing a factory image on your device will completely wipe it. So if you have to have Android 6.0 right this second, you’ll have to wipe your device to get it. If you can wait for Google to push the update to your device, though, you’ll be able to preserve the data on your phone.
