TAG Heuer has been trickling out details of its upcoming Android Wear smartwatch throughout 2015, but now we know when we’ll finally get a look at the device.
TAG Heuer will show off its Android Wear-powered smartwatch on November 9, says CEO Jean-Claude Biver. He added that the the wearable will cost $1,800. “We were a little bit concerned about the price, because we're going to sell it at $1,800...and now we are quite reassured because Apple is telling us we can sell at $1,500 or even more," Biver explained. "I'm very, very pleased."
At $1,800, the TAG Heuer device will be the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch around. We’ve seen the selection of luxury smartwatches grow lately, though, with the premium Huawei Watch available for $799 and the gold Apple Watch Edition models ranging between $10,000 and $17,000. Obviously $1,800 for a smartwatch isn’t cheap, but TAG Heuer isn’t targeting price-conscious consumers with its wearable. Instead, it’s aiming for watch fanatics and price-indifferent folks that want a smartwatch that looks like a traditional analog timepiece.
