Today was supposed to be a big day for iOS fans, because Apple was planning to release both iOS 9 and watchOS 2 to the public. However, it looks like the we’ll be getting just one new goodie to play with today.
Apple has delayed the release of watchOS 2 after discovering a bug that’s taking longer to fix than it anticipated. There’s no new date for the watchOS 2 release, but Apple says that it’ll come “shortly.” The company’s full statement to BuzzFeed:
“We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected. We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.”
It’s disappointing that we won’t get watchOS 2 today, but it’s better that Apple push the release date back to fix a bug rather than release it today with the bug in tow and then make us live with buggy software while we wait for an update.
watchOS 2 is the first major update for the Apple Watch, adding new features like native apps, third-party complications, Nightstand mode, and more. While we wait for the public release, you can check out our hands on with the watchOS 2 beta.
