Now that the Galaxy Note 5 is officially official, lots of folks are going to start turning their attention to Samsung’s next flagship, the Galaxy S7. That includes the rumor mill.
A new report claims to have some of the first details about Samsung’s Galaxy S7. According to SamMobile, the GS7 is codenamed “Project Lucky,” likely a reference to the number 7 often being considered a lucky number. The S7 is reportedly being tested with an Exynos 8890 processor, but it’s said that Samsung might include a Snapdragon 820 chipset in some units.
Moving on to storage, it’s said that the Galaxy S7 will utilize Samsung’s UFS 2.0 internal storage, which is the same type of storage that’s found in the GS6 and Note 5. This type of storage typically doesn’t play nicely with microSD cards due to memory controller differences, but Samsung might have found a way around that issue, meaning that there’s a chance that the GS7 will include a microSD slot.
One other detail that’s worth mentioning is that a Samsung device named “Lucky-LTE” recently appeared in a Geekbench test. The results of this benchmark hint at the inclusion of an Exynos 8890, Android 5.1.1, and 4GB of RAM, which is more than the 3GB that the Galaxy S6 ships with.
