Most smartphones are made of plastic, glass, or metal, but a couple of years ago, Motorola introduced a new material into the mobile world by offering wood backs for the Moto X. Then Motorola and LG began offering leather with the Moto X (2nd Gen.) and G4, and now Alcatel OneTouch has introduced another material into the world of smartphones.
The Alcatel OneTouch Pop Star is the newest member of the Pop family of phones, and one of its special features is that its back can be swapped out with one of many other rear covers. Some are just regular backs with special patterns on them, but there are also wood and leather backs, and Alcatel OneTouch is even offering a denim back. Yep, you can make your phone feel like a pair of jeans.
Alcatel OneTouch will offer two different versions of the Pop Star — one 3G-only and one with 4G LTE — and there’s one other spec detail that’s different between the two. While the 3G model has a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6580 processor, the 4G LTE version comes with a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735P chipset.
The rest of the spec lists of the two models are similar. They’ve both got a 5-inch 1280x720 display, 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 8GB of storage (5GB available to the user), a microSD slot, 1GB of RAM, a 2000mAh battery, and Android Lollipop.
Then there’s the Pop Up, which is a higher-end Pop family member. It’s got a 5-inch 1280x720 display, 1.4GHz octa-core MSM8929 Snapdragon processor, 13-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front cameras, 16GB of storage with a microSD slot, 2GB of RAM, and a 2000mAh battery. It’s powered by Android Lollipop and is available in five colors: Black, Riva Blue, Amber Orange, White, and Strawberry Red.
