The Amazon Fire phone is on sale once again, and this time it’s dropped to the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
Amazon is now selling the Fire phone for $130 unlocked and contract-free. As usual, that includes one year of Amazon Prime, which is $99 on its own. If you’ve already got an Amazon Prime subscription, buying a Fire phone will extend your subscription by one year.
The Fire phone is a mid-range phone by mid-2015 standards, offering a 4.7-inch 1280x720 display, 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 13-megapixel rear and 2.1-megapixel front cameras, 32GB of RAM, 2GB of RAM, and a 2400mAh battery. It comes preloaded with Amazon Fire OS, which is currently based on Android 4.4, but Amazon is working on a Lollipop-based update. Alternatively, you can sideload CyanogenMod if you’re not afraid to do a little tinkering.
At the $450 price that Amazon was asking for the unlocked Fire phone just one month ago, the device was a pretty tough sell. It’s much more palatable at $130, especially if you’re looking for an affordable phone and your Amazon Prime subscription is almost up or you don’t have one at all.
Are any of you going to pull the trigger on this $130 Fire phone?
