Apple has launched an iSight Camera Replacement Program for the iPhone 6 Plus. The company says that a “small percentage” of iPhone 6 Plus units have an iSight camera component that could fail, which leads to blurry photos. Apple doesn’t say exactly what the issue is, but some have suggested that an issue with the Optical Image Stabilization on the iPhone 6 Plus (a feature that the iPhone 6 lacks) could prevent the camera from focusing properly.

Apple has determined that the affected models fall within a certain serial number range and were sold between September 2014 and January 2015. If your device qualifies for the program and is taking blurry photos with its rear camera, you’ve got a few options for getting a replacement camera. You can either find an Apple Authorized Service Provider and take it there, head to your nearest Apple Retail Store, or contact Apple technical support.

For many folks, the camera is the most important feature of their smartphone, and there may be some that bought the iPhone 6 Plus over the iPhone 6 for its Optical Image Stabilization feature. It’s kind of strange to see Apple offer this iSight Camera Replacement Program now even though reports of blurry iPhone 6 Plus photos have been floating around since 2014, but better late than never, I suppose.
