UPDATE: Blass has posted another BlackBerry Venice leak, this time giving us a GIF that shows the keyboard as well as the device's slider in action. You can view the GIF above.
One of the reasons that the BlackBerry Venice — BlackBerry’s rumored Android slider phone — is so interesting is because it’s got a physical keyboard, something that’s basically been extinct from Android for a while now. Unfortunately, in all the previously leaked images of the Venice, the rumor mill hasn’t given us a clear look at the phone’s QWERTY. That’s changing today.
Evan Blass has shared an official-looking render that shows the BlackBerry Venice with its screen slid up and its physical keyboard exposed. We can also see that the phone is running Android, complete with the same set of app icons that was present in Venice render leak from early July that showed the phone closed.

Blass also shared four images that show the Venice running Google Play, the Android version of BlackBerry Hub, supporting Chromecast, and running an app called Content Transfer for BlackBerry that’ll move your data from one phone to another using Google Drive. In the same leak, Blass says that the Venice will launch in November on all four major US carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon).
Spec details for the BlackBerry Venice are still a mystery, but it’s exciting to hear that the phone might be coming to all four big US carriers. The phone is sure to draw some attention, both because it’s an Android phone with a keyboard and because it’s an Android phone made by BlackBerry, and so it’s wise for BlackBerry to make the device widely available to give it the best chance at success.
