The Blackphone 2 is going to be a big improvement over its predecessor, offering improved specs and support for Android for Work. And now you can pre-order one of your very own.
Silent Circle is now taking pre-orders for the Blackphone 2 ahead of the device’s September 2015 launch. There’s no mention of how much the Blackphone 2 will cost, but the original Blackphone cost $629 at launch, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Blackphone 2 launch with a similar price. If you know that you want one, you can contact Silent Circle’s Sales department and reserve yourself a unit right now.
The Blackphone 2 features a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display — up from the original Blackphone’s 4.7-inch 1280x720 screen — as well as a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 13-megapixel camera, 3GB of RAM, a microSD slot, and a 3060mAh battery. It runs Silent OS, a custom and super-secure version of Android. And while a super-secure version of Android may not be a big selling point for everyone, those folks that do make security a top concern will soon have a nicely-specced Android phone in the Blackphone 2 available to them.
