UPDATE: Samsung says that the 128GB versions of the Note 5 and S6 edge+ on its website are an error.
Before Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ yesterday, it was expected that the two phones would be available in 32, 64, and 128GB variants, just like the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. Samsung only announced 32 and 64GB versions of the new phones, though, frustrating many would-be buyers, especially since the phones lack a microSD slot. However, Samsung might have 128GB versions of the Note 5 and S6 edge+ after all.
Samsung’s official US website lists 128GB versions of both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+. All four major carriers have a 128GB Note 5 and S6 edge+, though some operators only have a 128GB phone in one color. For example, T-Mobile’s Galaxy S6 edge+ has a 128GB version in Black Sapphire, but not in Gold Platinum.
What’s unclear is if these 128GB versions of the Note 5 and S6 edge+ are real or if they’re just an error. I reached out to Samsung about the phones yesterday after the company’s announcement, and I still haven’t heard back.
It’s tough to say if Samsung actually will end up offering these 128GB Note 5 and S6 edge+ models. On the one hand, it’d be kind of weird if they didn’t since there are 128GB versions of the S6 and S6 edge, and you’d think that Samsung would want to offer lots of storage with these phones since they lack a microSD slot. But why wouldn’t Samsung mention the 128GB versions in its official announcement? It’s all very strange. Stay tuned and I’ll update you when I hear back from Samsung on the matter
