UPDATE: Verizon says that service was restored to its customers in Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee at around 8:00 pm ET.
Sounds like something big has happened in the southeastern US.
Customers on all four major US carriers — AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon — are reporting network problems in the southeast. Down Detector echoes the problems, showing that all four networks are suffering from outages in states like Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama.
Several of the carriers have responded to complaints on Twitter, saying that they’re working to restore service as soon as possible. AT&T also provided a statement to Re/code, acknowledging the issue and saying that it’s “working as quickly as possible to restore service.”
Exactly what has happened to cause this outage is unknown, but something must’ve happened with a cable being cut or something similar to affect all four major US carriers. Whatever happened, it’s causing network issues in a major section of the US, so here’s to hoping that AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon can get the matter taken care of soon.
