Android One today expanded to a new country, and in the process we got a new Android One phone as well.
The i-mobile iQ II is the first Android One phone in Thailand, and it’s available starting today at a price of 4444 Thai Baht, which is approximately $127 USD. Specs-wise, the iQ II offers a 5-inch 1280x720 display, Snapdragon 410 processor, 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, a 2500mAh battery, and 42Mbps HSPA support.
On the software side, the iQ II comes preloaded with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Google says that it’ll receive an update to the next version of Android — aka Android M — shortly after the update is released, which is slated to happen this fall.
The i-mobile iQ II is reminiscent of the Lava Mobile V1, another recently released Android One phone, in that it offers higher-end specs and a better design that the first several of Android One handsets. The iQ II isn’t quite as high-end as the Lava Mobile V1, but it’s still a nice handset for the money. It’s great to see Google and its Android One partners continuing to improve upon the Android One hardware to offer a better experience to users.
