Hot on the heels of a leak that gave us an early look at the outside of the iPhone 6s, a new leak has surfaced that claims to have some information about what’s inside the device.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, the iPhone 6s will include an updated Qualcomm MDM9635M chip, which can offer up to double the LTE download speeds of the chip in the iPhone 6. While the iPhone 6’s chip offered download speeds up to 150Mbps, the iPhone 6s’s will be capable of download speeds up to 300Mbps.
Along with support for faster LTE, the internals of the new iPhone 6s are expected to be better for battery life. Not only is the Qualcomm chip inside the iPhone 6s more power efficient than the iPhone 6’s, but the 6s’s motherboard is said to be more compact than the iPhone 6’s, which could allow Apple to include a slightly larger battery in the 6s’s chassis.
As I said yesterday, Apple’s “s” iPhone models typically use a body similar to the previous version, but offer internal upgrades. Faster LTE speeds and better battery life are precisely the types of upgrades that would be likely for an “s” iPhone. Apple’s probably got a couple of other internal upgrades planned for the iPhone 6s as well, and at the rate that the leaks are coming now, we could hear more about them soon.
