Google has been sending Project Fi invitations for a few weeks now, but there are likely still a lot of folks wondering where their invite is. Now Google’s got a status page that you can constantly refresh.
If you’ve requested a Project Fi invitation, the Project Fi site will now show you the status of your invite. Some folks are seeing that their invite is a few weeks away, while other, more unlucky people are being told that Google is “still determining” their status.
Project Fi is Google’s new wireless service that runs on Wi-Fi as well as Sprint and T-Mobile’s networks. When you sign up, you pay $20 for unlimited talk and text and then you can add between 1GB and 10GB of data at a rate of $10 per gigabyte. At the end of each billing cycle, Google will credit you for your unused data.
Project Fi is an interesting new service, but because you have to have a Nexus 6 to use it, not everyone will be able to try it out. That’s probably good for Google because it ensures that Fi won’t get overloaded with users at launch, but Google is probably making slowly sending out invites to ensure that its testing goes smoothly.
