Facebook today launched Moments, a photo app that aims to make it easier for you to get photos of yourself that others have taken and to share photos with friends. Moments uses facial recognition technology to determine which of your friends are in photos and it can also group them by event.
Once your photos are sorted, you can share them with specific friends. Facebook stresses that this sharing is private, so you don’t have to worry about people seeing your images if they’re not supposed to.
After you receive some photos from a friend in Moments, you’ll be given the option of saving them to your device’s Camera Roll if you’d like. You can also use a built-in search tool to find specific friends in your photos.
Facebook’s Moments app is available on both iOS and Android today. Photos are a huge part of Facebook and its popularity, allowing users to easily share photos that they take with their friends. With Moments, Facebook is taking things a step further by making it easier for users to corral their photos and share them with friends quickly and in a private manner.
