The Apple Watch has pretty much only been available for purchase online ever since pre-orders for the wearable went live in early April, but it looks like that’s finally going to change soon.
Today Apple announced that the Apple Watch will launch in seven additional countries on June 26. Those countries are Italy, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, and Taiwan. In that announcement, Apple reveals that the Watch will start to hit retail stores “within two weeks.” The full statement from Jeff Williams, Apple SVP of Operations, is as follows:
“We’re also making great progress with the backlog of Apple Watch orders, and we thank our customers for their patience. All orders placed through May, with the sole exception of Apple Watch 42 mm Space Black Stainless Steel with Space Black Link Bracelet, will ship to customers within two weeks. At that time, we’ll also begin selling some models in our Apple Retail Stores.”
As of this writing, some Apple Watch models are available to ship from Apple’s online store within 5-7 business days, so the wait for a new unit isn’t terribly long. Still, some folks might prefer to just walk into a store and buy a unit. That’s why it’s nice to see that the Apple Watch will finally hit Apple’s retail stores soon. I’m sure Apple is pleased with the news, too, because it means that folks that come into an Apple Store to try the Watch on will be able to buy a unit on the spot if they’d like.
