Android 5.1.1 update rolling out to Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 9 LTE

Android 5.1.1 is spreading to several more Nexus devices today.

Owners of the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and Nexus 9 LTE are starting to see the Android 5.1.1 update hitting their phones and tablets. As you can see in the screenshots below, the Nexus 5’s update weighs in at 24MB, while the Nexus 4’s update is a bit smaller at 18.1MB.

Android 5.1.1 is the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system, and while it’s mostly a smaller bug-fixing update, it’s always nice to be on the newest version of your mobile OS of choice. Also, it’s not surprising to see the Nexus 4 getting Android 5.1.1 since it got Android 5.1 in the past, but it’s still nice to see the aging Nexus phone continue to get fresh Android updates, and I’m sure that anyone rocking an N4 agrees.

If you’ve got a Nexus 5, Nexus 4, or Nexus 9 LTE and haven’t yet gotten this update, you can head into your Settings app now and check for it. If you’d rather not wait for the OTA, the folks at Android Police have the OTA URLs that you need for manually installing the update if that’s your thing.

Have you gotten the update to Android 5.1.1 yet?
