UPDATE: Microsoft has posted an update regarding this new Windows 10 for phones preview build. If you’ve got a phone that’s already on Windows 10 and in the Fast ring, you should be able to update to the new build without issue. If your phone’s not already on Windows 10, though, you’re going to need to wait a couple of hours so that Microsoft can take its provisioning data servers offline and update them.

Microsoft is pushing a new Windows 10 for phones preview build, just as it promised it would. The update is build 10051 and includes support for many, many more phones. Unfortunately, the update doesn’t support Verizon’s Lumia Icon, Lumia 930, and the Lumia 640 XL, which Microsoft says is due to a scaling issue that makes the user interface too small. The full list of phones supported by this new build looks like this:
Today’s update also has some major new features. Included is an early version of the Project Spartan browser, new system apps for Mail, Calendar, Phone, Messaging, People, and Maps, and an updated app switcher. Finally, there are some bug fixes like an updated keyboard layout, a fix for the Cortana icon resolution, a couple of Photos app fixes, and a solution for the issue that prevented the Microsoft Band from syncing with Windows 10.
Overall this sounds like a huge update. Not only does it add support for a ton of new phones, including popular devices like the Lumia 920, 1020, and 1520, but it also adds major new Windows 10 features like the Project Spartan browser and many new system apps.
