While Motorola’s recent Moto smartphones are largely stock Android, they do have some special Motorola features like Moto Display and Moto Actions that give you quick access to various apps. Now it looks like Motorola is rolling out a new Moto Action to its users.
The Android 5.1 update for the Moto X Pure Edition that I told you about last weekend is now rolling out to some users, and it’s been discovered that Motorola has included a new gesture that’ll quickly activate the phone’s flashlight. In order to activate the feature, you simply perform two quick karate chops, and you can chop twice more to turn the flashlight off.
Right now it looks like the feature is only available on the Moto X Pure Edition with Android 5.1. If you’ve got that update and that phone, you can find it in the Actions section of your Moto app. There are several other devices that support other gestures like twisting your wrist to activate your device’s camera, though, so it’s possible that Motorola could eventually make this “Chop twice for flashlight” feature available on some of its other phones.
