If a new rumor is correct, you Android users could be getting some big app updates this week.
According to “a little birdie” of Android Police’s, Google is planning a big update involving Photos and the auto-backup feature that’s built into the Google+ app. The source didn’t elaborate on what the changes might be, but some code in a recent Google Drive app update suggests that Google may move its auto-backup feature to Drive. Meanwhile, it’s suggested that Photos could be yanked out of Google+ and become a standalone app.
Sundar Pichai, who is head of Android, Chrome, and Google apps, recently suggested that Google may separate Hangouts and Photos from Google+. The changes to Photos that are the focus of today’s rumor could be the breaking out that Pichai was referring to, but we’ll just have to wait before we know for sure. The good news is that Google frequently updates its Android apps on Wednesdays, so it may not be long before all is revealed.
