One year after the debut of the original Moto 360, a new model may have been leaked.
Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing recently put up a post on his personal Weibo account with an image full of round smartwatches, bands and cases. Interestingly, the lugs on these smartwatches — which are used for connecting a band — are exposed, which is different from the hidden lugs found on the Moto 360. Yuanqing deleted the post shortly after it went live, but because this is the internet, it was saved before disappearing from his page.
It’s been suggested that the device shown in these photos could be the next version of the Moto 360. After all, it’s been one year since the debut of the original 360, and Lenovo now owns Motorola. The Moto 360 has earned a lot of love for its design, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Motorola carried that look over to the next generation. However, the models in this leaked image also appear to have the same Moto 360 “flat tire” look that people aren’t so fond of.
Since it’s been a full year since the debut of the original Moto 360, it’d make sense that Motorola would be working on a new model. Whether or not this is it remains to be seen, but it’s plausible that Motorola could be recycling most of the original 360’s design but giving it exposed lugs and making it more like a traditional, analog watch in the process.
