Mobile carriers around the globe apparently think that the new-look Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are going to be a hit with consumers, because a new report says that operators have pre-ordered a record number of Samsung’s flagships.
An executive from a “leading mobile carrier” in Europe says that Samsung has gotten around 20 million pre-orders for its new phones. The breakdown, according to The Korea Times, is 15 million Galaxy S6 phones and 5 million Galaxy S6 edge models. Samsung itself hasn’t given specific pre-order numbers, but Samsung co-CEO J.K. Shin says that pre-orders have been “huge.”
The Galaxy S series are Samsung’s flagship smartphones, and as such, they typically receive pretty heavy support from both Sammy and most major carriers. However, the Galaxy S5 reportedly didn’t sell quite as well as Samsung would’ve liked. With its redesigned body and premium construction, the Galaxy S6 could do better than its predecessor thanks to its more attractive design.
