Back at the end of November, Huawei announced that it would update the Ascend Mate2 to Android 5.0. Huawei hasn’t said much about the update since, but today the company broke its silence to confirm that the Lollipop bump is still coming.
Huawei says that the Ascend Mate2’s Android 5.0 update, which will also include Huawei’s new EMUI 3.x user interface, is still scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2015. The update will be delivered over the air. If you’d like to get your hands on the update before the general public, Huawei says that it’ll share the softare with a “limited number” of users as part of a beta test before the final release. More details on that test will be shared later.
Huawei originally wasn’t going to update the Ascend Mate2 to Android 4.4, let alone Android 5.0. Because of that, it’s exciting that a Lollipop/EMUI 3.x update is in the works and still on track to arrive in the first half of 2015, even if that is a somewhat wide open release window.
