If you’re rocking a OnePlus One, you’re probably wondering when your Android 5.0 update will be released. Well today OnePlus CEO Carl Pei took to Twitter to shed a bit more light on the matter.
Pei says that more stable builds of CyanogenMod 12S and OnePlus’s own OxygenOS will be released in mid to late March. The exec goes on to explain that the reasons for the delays — OnePlus gave itself a 90-day Lollipop update window that it looks like it’s going miss — include “proprietary drivers, code, QA, certifications.” Both of these updates will be based on Android 5.0.
@rajarshi_10 We released an L alpha a while ago, but a more stable build (OxygenOS & CM12S) will need to wait until March. Sorry for delay!

Obviously it’s kind of a bummer that OnePlus is going to miss its self-imposed 90-day Lollipop update window, but it’s not the only company that that has happened to. And hey, a more stable build of Android 5.0 is probably worth the trade-off of waiting a few more weeks. Stay tuned and I’ll give you a shout once the updates are ready for primetime
