Software updates are a big deal in the mobile world because they’ve got the capability to bring an awesome life-changing feature, a whole new design, or even just some bug fixes that’ll make your experience smoother. “When will ___ get updated?” is a question that we hear all the time, and now T-Mobile has made it a bit easier for its customers to know when an update is headed their way.
A new Software Updates page is now live on T-Mobile’s support site. The page will give you the status on new software updates, showing how far along an update for a particular device is in its rollout process. The page has three stages: Manufacturer Development, T-Mobile Testing, and Completed. Some devices are already listed as “Completed,” like the Galaxy S5 and its Android 5.0 update, while others are still in testing. For example, the HTC One (M7)’s Lollipop update is currently in the “T-Mobile Testing” stage.
HTC has gotten a lot of praise recently for its efforts to be transparent about its software updates and how far along they are in the approval process, and so it’s good to see T-Mobile launch its own page that Magenta customers can bookmark and use to keep track of impending updates. Here’s to hoping that we see more carriers and manufacturers do the same in the future.
