T-Mobile recently said that it plans to roll its 700MHz spectrum out to 350 metro areas in 2015, and now we know that Magenta will be updating some of its smartphones to take advantage of that spectrum.
A T-Mobile 700MHz coverage page has been discovered that reveals T-Mo’s plans for updating some of its smartphones with support for 700MHz airwaves, which offer better in-building coverage. According to the document, the Google Nexus 6 is slated to be updated in early 2015, the Sony Xperia Z3 and Samsung Galaxy Avant will be updated in May 2015, and the ZTE ZMax will be updated sometime during the year.
While T-Mobile’s got Wi-Fi calling functionality to let its customers make calls and texts when they’re without cellular coverage, it certainly can’t hurt for T-Mo to improve its in-building connectivity as well. The good news is that T-Mobile is working to update some of its popular devices to support that coverage, which will join the Note 4 and Note Edge that already support T-Mobile 700MHz spectrum.
