Just days after T-Mobile announced Smartphone Equality, a new leak has surfaced that suggests that T-Mo is prepping another offering aimed at helping more customers upgrade to new hardware.
Sources speaking to TmoNews say that T-Mobile is preparing a new “SCORE!” deal that will help customers that don’t qualify for JUMP! to upgrade early. That includes customers with full-price devices, BYOD users, prepaid subscribers, or customers without an Equipment Installment Plan.
Once you’ve been in the SCORE! program for six months, you’ll be able to upgrade to a free entry-level smartphone like the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce 2 or LG Optimus L90. After 12 months, you’ll qualify for “special handset pricing” on all other phones, including flagships.
SCORE! will allegedly cost $5 per month (JUMP! is $10) and is expected to launch on January 25. If these leaked details hold true, it looks like SCORE! could be a nice option for folks that’d like a more affordable upgrade without shelling out $10 per month for JUMP! or going postpaid.
Stay tuned and I’ll update you with more information when SCORE! goes official.
